Argyle Sweater Birthday Card - English and Spanish File

A Birthday Card inspired by the most common gift ever: Argyle Patterned Socks!
So, I got these awesome socks for Christmas and the colors inspired me to make this birthday card.
After playing with the file to find a way for the card to look real and pretty at the same time, I came up with this way of writing the thin lines using a Sakura White Gel Pen on my explore using the Chomas Creations Pen Holder.
I wanted the diamonds to look somehow dimensional, so once they were cut, I inked them using matching Distress Inks on a sponge Dauber. I used Mustard Seed for the bright Yellow, Faded Jeans for the blue and Walnut Stain for the gray. The socks are really more of a brown hue but I wanted a more muted color palette. I had to redraw some of the white lines since they faded after the inking.
The light blue color bow and the panel behind the birthday word cutout were also inked. I used Salty Ocean Distress Ink on a Mini Ink Blending Tool. I did a gradient on the back panel.
After inking I drew some random dots on the front part of the bow with a white gel pen and added Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to make them pop.
I put the argyle pattern together, mounting all diamond cutouts on the gray panel using an adhesive dot roller. I like the Scotch brand because it allows to re position for a while and place the pieces in the right spot. Once your are finished, make sure to press firmly to adhere all the pieces completely.
After gluing the neck piece and the back blue gradient piece, I slid the sweater under the collar cutouts of the white panel. I used Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock for the shirt so the corners would stick up.
I glued a button using a strong adhesive and adhered the bow with foam tape to avoid flattening the folds.
The word Happy (Feliz) is 4 layers:
  1. Top layer is a cream colored cardstock topped with Clear Wink of Stella glitter.
  2. Untreated cream color cardstock
  3. Cream colored cardstock with painted borders. I used a dark brown color COPIC marker. This gives the word, once put together, a Wafer Cookie look that I just love.
  4. Untreated Cram color Cardstock
Make sure to use a liquid glue and before it is completely dry, run the die cut sandwich through an embossing machine using the embossing rubber mat (Check this post for more information on this). This makes the cutout neat and flat.
I glued it to the sweater and added Mod Podge on top to make it pop.
I love the look of the glitter under this smooth gummy surface.
Glue the whole thing to a Light gray notecard and you are ready to go.
I just received my We R Memory Keepers 1-2-3 Punch Board, and I love it. With a regular 8.5" x 11" shett of 32 lb. Neenah Astrobright paper I made a custom envelope that I stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored using my Sakura Koi watercolors.

This card was a lot of work and I hope you find the result as awesome as I do.
