Hugging Elf Pop Up Card

Hello again!
I love Pop Up Cards and I'm very excite about this project.
I wanted to do something that looked simple and allowed some variations for future projects.
The front of the card is a very simple Will Ferrell's Buddy inspired Elf outfit with a stamped panel and heat embossed stripe, and the inside has a surprise element with an Elf character opening his arms as you open the card.
I incorporated several techniques in this card that I believe take it to a next level, but you can also skip all the inking and stamping and the card will look amazing as well.
Because some pieces have great detail, make sure you use a good quality paper, specially for the character's pupils, skin and gold embellishments.
I used different brands of cardstock:
  1. Recollections: for the front teal and gold pieces, the inner matted panels and also for the skin because I wanted a smooth surface for the coloring.
  2. Neenah metallics for the collar in the front of the card (white gold) and pearlescent for the green outfit (gamma green)
  3. Neenah Solar White 65lb cardstock for the mechanism.
  4. American Crafts for the outside belt, the rest of the character's outfit and the card base.

I would recommend to use liquid glue to put the Elf together so the cardstock is reinforced and stiffened when it dries. Be careful if you are using metallic cardstock as the liquid glue can alter the surface making it look dull and stained.

For small pieces use the dip method instead of trying to put glue on.
And for the panels use the low tack tape hinge method to make sure they are aligned correctly
I made a Bunch of cards this year and got them on the mail on time, yippee!!!

Here's the video tutorial that will give you more tips and tricks to put the card together.
I hope you enjoy this project and give it a try. And please consider subscribing to the YouTube channel and check our other Christmas projects.
Hugs.
