Using Pattern Fills In Design Space To Speed Up Your Work

Hello everyone!
It's been a while. We've been doing a lot of home improvement (including my craft space) and things took longer than we expected. Is all done now, so hopefully I'll have a lot more time at hand to craft and share. I was thinking about doing a craft room tour video, if you think that's something you would like to see, please leave a comment below.
Today is all about speeding up your card making or scrapbooking process using Pattern Fills in Design Space. You could go from a couple of hours to only a few minutes and have a card ready to go if you are in a hurry.
If you want to jump directly to the video tutorial, click on the image below. If you want to go straight to the blog post to read more and download the free SVG file and patterns, click on the title of this post.

Using a single SVG file, I show you how to create the same card in 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 45 minutes or 1,5 hours depending on the amount of Print then cut that you use.
I'll walk you through the process of doing a "full cutout card"
Stamped patterns applied to solid color cardstock.
Written sentiment using a white gel pen on the Maker pen adapter.

Layered cardstock to create shadows, highlights and white outlines

I will show you how to upload and apply patterns and do a "fully printed card" that will take only 10 minutes to make.
It's important to mention that for this type of cards, you are limited to the maximum printing size in Design Space (6,75" x 9.25")
The inside of the card is white where you can write your sentiments.

One layer card - card base and embellishments are printed in a single sheet of paper)

There's no dimension in the front of the card, but the elements pop thanks to the pattern fills.
I also show options to step up the fully printed card to make it look more crafty and add dimension in two ways using partial printing:
Using a popped up, printed, single layer, front panel. This card will take you only 5 more minutes than the previous one - the time that takes you to put fun foam on the back of the printed front panel)
Sentiment on the upper right corner tag is printed, not written

Card base is made from colored cardstock, front panel is fully printed and popped up
And using single printed elements that are popped up individually. This card will take you a little longer to make (45 minutes) since you will have to put foam tape to pop up every individual pritned element on the card; still is faster to make thean the fully cutout card.
Printer heart balloons shadow layer, front, string and white outline are in one single layer

A lot of dimension using individual printed elements

Patter fills seem to pop more using this method.

I hope you enjoy this, remember that the products use are linked below and the link to download the file to create this project is also on the bottom of this page.
Thanks for stopping by

  2. I just saw this... Funny as I just made your z fold nativity card and did a pattern fill for the background with a picture I found online of a night sky. I printed it on printable glitter paper.
